Woody Williams extended his August record to 3-0 while he held the Nationals to only two runs 6 innings. This is the kind of pitching everyone looks for late in the season. He took this start and did what he could. He ended up with the win.
But don't forget about the Astros Bats! Houston did a good job with runners in scoring position. Welcome back Hunter Pence! He hit a triple in the first inning. he came around to score off the bat of Lance Berkman after that. New Astros, Ty Wiggington, Hit a solo shot in the fourth inning which put the Astros ahead 3-0. The Nationals managed two points in the 6th, but that was it.
Coming up tonight, Houston Rookie, Juan Gutierrez will make his first career start in the absence of Roy Oswalt. He will face fellow rookie John Lannan of the Nationals. With both Pence and Lee back in the line-up, the Astros will be looking for the series split.
